Google has introduced co viewing measurement for advertisers evaluating YouTube reach on Connected TV, helping capture audiences who watch content together.

The update changes how CTV video ad viewers are counted, with Google confirming that co views now include all Connected TV users to better align with traditional TV reporting.

Advertisers can now access two key metrics:

  • Unique Users, including co viewers who saw an ad
  • Total Co view Impressions, accounting for both the intended viewer and anyone watching alongside them

This enhancement provides a more complete view of campaign reach and makes it easier to compare YouTube and linear TV investments. Google originally announced co-viewing and upgraded reach and frequency metrics in September 2025, and this rollout expands those capabilities for Connected TV advertisers.
