A new messaging option has been introduced in Google Ads, allowing SMS messages to join WhatsApp, Messenger, and Zalo under the setup configuration for Message assets. This update also includes a native Google Messages preview, displaying a “Send message” prompt through Google Messages instead of third-party apps.

Advertisers will still need to provide a starter message in the 140-character prompt field, similar to other messaging platforms. SMS conversions will be integrated into the existing account-level message asset goals, simplifying the management of leads from messaging ads. The setup process for SMS numbers is less complicated than that for WhatsApp Business, lowering the entry barrier for advertisers to utilize messaging ads effectively.
