Message asset, also known as the Whatsapp extension or Click-to-Whatsapp ads, was first seen in March, but later in May Google has shared that they are available in Brazil and India only.
Now, Greg Kohler has spotted this in his U.S. account, indicating its rollout to more countries.
It allows advertisers to set up a message asset that enable click-to-WhatsApp functionality to get in touch with the advertiser and potentially enhancing lead generation and customer engagement for businesses.
It can be configured for both Search and Performance Max campaigns.
To use this feature, advertisers need to:
- Set up WhatsApp for Business.
- Provide an active WhatsApp Business number during message asset configuration.
- Enter a compliant starter message.
- Ensure WhatsApp is not mentioned in the ad headline to avoid misdirected clicks.
