Limitations on Advertising Deepfake Sexual Content

A woman shines a flashlight on a wall, revealing icons like a wrench, lipstick, and wallet. She stands by a small table with books and a mug, next to a checklist. A potted plant is nearby. The illustration uses blue and gray tones, reminiscent of Google's minimalistic style.

As of May 2024, Google is enhancing its commitment to a safe advertising environment by prohibiting Shopping ads related to synthetic sexual content. This new update will be a part of Inappropriate Content Policy.

This includes:

  • Services that create, distribute, or store synthetic sexually explicit content or nudity, such as “deepfakes.”
  • Ads for tutorials or instructions on creating synthetic sexually explicit content.
  • Any advertisements promoting or comparing deepfake pornography services.
