In February 2024, Google will update its Inappropriate Content Policy to define ‘Sensitive Events‘ as unforeseen incidents with significant social, cultural, or political impact, like natural disasters, public health emergencies, or acts of violence.
The policy aims to ensure high-quality, relevant information during these events and prevent insensitive or exploitative content, especially in monetized features. Exploiting sensitive events is prohibited (e.g., price gouging).
Google notified advertisers via email, and the official announcement can also be accessed here: Update to Inappropriate content policy.
