Google has announced a policy update that renames the “Child Sexual Abuse Imagery” (CSAI) policy to “Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation” (CSAE), effective October 22, 2025. The revised language aims to improve clarity and align with industry terminology.

The updated CSAE policy broadens its scope to explicitly prohibit all content promoting or facilitating child abuse or exploitation, including simulated materials, grooming, trafficking, or sexual extortion. It also includes non-photographic depictions such as illustrations or text.

Starting October 22, 2025, violations will be treated as egregious. Offending content will be removed and accounts may be suspended without warning, severely limiting future advertising ability. Google may also report such violations to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
