Cannabis Ads Pilot Launching on Google Search in Canada

Google Ads is launching a limited pilot in Canada to allow cannabis-related product and service ads on Search. This test begins August 25, 2025, and will run for up to 20 weeks.

The pilot is open only to federally licensed cannabis operators and focuses on evaluating user interest. Ads will appear in Search results, and users who prefer not to see them can opt out through My Ad Center.

This initiative may inform future updates to Google’s cannabis advertising policies. As with all policy changes, the English version of Google’s Ads Policies remains the official enforcement reference.
