From January 2025, Google will allow online pharmacies and telemedicine providers in Japan to advertise prescription drug services under strict guidelines.

Key conditions:

  • Licensing and registration with Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare (MHLW).
  • Certification via the LegitScript Certification Program.
  • Google advertiser certification.

Over-the-counter drug policies remain unchanged. Violations won’t trigger immediate suspension; advertisers will receive at least seven days’ notice. Certification applications open with the policy update.
