Google Ads API v24.1 Introduces New Features and Updates

Google has announced the release of v24.1 of the Google Ads API. Advertisers must upgrade their client libraries and client code to access the new features, which include a walkthrough event scheduled for May 14.

Key features in v24.1 include:

  • Mobile Device Platform Segment: Advertisers can now segment campaign-level reports using the `segments.mobiledeviceplatform` column, providing insights based on the user’s mobile OS.
  • Classic Images in Demand Gen Campaigns: The ability to upload static images for the Google Display Network, enhancing creative control.
  • Support for Passkeys: A new `passkey_enabled` field has been introduced to indicate passkey authorization for sensitive action within accounts.
  • Enhanced Experiment Support: Introduces new experiment types, making performance analysis more straightforward.
  • New Data Retention Policy: Starting June 1, 2026, a 37-month data retention policy will be implemented.
  • Experiment functionality: Support for experiment types including AI Max and broad match tests, custom Video campaign experiments, Performance Max replacement tests for Shopping campaigns, and asset optimization experiments for Performance Max creatives.
