Google Ads will enforce a minimum daily budget of 5 USD or local equivalent for all Demand Gen campaigns starting April 1, 2026.

The change applies via an unversioned update across the Google Ads API and is designed to help campaigns move through the initial learning phase more effectively.

From that date, campaigns set below the threshold will trigger validation errors:

  • In API v21 and above, a BUDGET_BELOW_DAILY_MINIMUM error will appear with additional details in the budget_per_day_minimum_error_details field
  • In API v20, a generic UNKNOWN error will be returned, with CampaignBudgetError.BUDGET_BELOW_DAILY_MINIMUM shown in unpublished_error_code

Existing campaigns under 5 USD can continue running, but any future budget or duration changes must meet the new minimum.
