Google Tests Traffic Volume Labels in Search Ads

Google is testing a new label that displays estimated traffic volume directly within text ads in Search. The label appears at the end of the ad, in the space typically used for ad extensions, showing visit estimates like “100K+ visits in past month.”

This new feature could enhance user trust and improve click-through rates by signaling popularity. However, it raises questions about data sourcing and advertiser control. It’s unclear whether the traffic estimate is based on Google Ads clicks, GA4 data, or broader ecosystem signals like Chrome or Android usage.

Advertisers currently have no way to opt in or out of this display, which may reveal traffic trends to competitors.

Google has not yet published official documentation.
