In late September, Bidding Exploration was first spotted in Google Ads. It is designed to help advertisers discover new sources of valuable traffic.
Now, Google has published its official help page to share more information about this beta.
It uncovers new traffic sources by discreasing the target ROAS goal by 10% while maximizing performance.
To access reporting for this feature, advertisers can monitor the bid strategy report, which now includes annotations for when Bidding Exploration is active and introduces “traffic diversity” as a new metric, indicating impressions from unique search categories.
How to Enable Bidding Exploration:
- In your Google Ads account, navigate to the Campaigns section.
- Select an eligible campaign and click on Settings.
- Open Bidding exploration and check the box to allow Smart Bidding to explore new traffic.
- Save your settings.
