Opioid Painkillers Sale Prohibited by Google Ads Policy

Starting in June, Google will require a new certification for advertisers who want to refer to opioid painkillers in their ads and landing pages.

This certification allows discussions on opioid abuse and public policy solutions but prohibits the promotion or sale of the substances.

Advertisers without this certification will not be permitted to reference opioid painkillers in their ads. Google will strictly enforce this policy and suspend accounts found in violation without prior warning. Advertisers can appeal suspensions if they believe there has been an error, though reinstatement is rare and requires strong justification.
