Update On Energy Efficiency Labeling for Product Listings

Screenshot of a Google product listing update about labeling changes for 2023. It highlights new energy efficiency certification attributes aligning with EU regulations and the deprecation of old attributes like energy_efficiency_class. Compliance starts September 1st, 2024.

Starting September 1, 2024, Google will require the new [certification] attribute in the Google Merchant Center product feed to display energy efficiency certifications on product listings.

Merchants must update their product information to comply with these changes. This update aligns with the EU’s new energy efficiency labeling regulations and will replace the following old attributes:

  • energy_efficiency_class
  • min_energy_efficiency_class
  • max_energy_efficiency_class

This change aims to streamline how energy efficiency certifications are displayed, ensure compliance, and maintain accurate product information on Google.
