Google Ads Updates Data Manager Policy on Hashed Customer Data

Google Ads notification titled “Encryption in Google Ads Data Manager” announcing that as of November 16, 2026, the platform will support encrypted customer data by default, moving away from hashed customer data (SHA-256).

Google Ads is updating its Data Manager to no longer require hashed customer data starting November 16, 2026. Advertisers working with offline data imports will see support for processed data through an encrypted format.

The update means that customer data, previously needing SHA-256 hashing, will instead be handled via a trusted execution environment (TEE). This change affects customer matching and enhanced conversions tools, simplifying the data import process for advertisers.

This update was spotted by Anthony Higman.
