Google Ads has added a detailed section to the AI Max help documentation, addressing keyword prioritization changes. Previously, broad keywords were treated as exact match under certain settings. The new guidance specifies that disabling the broad match setting or migrating to AI Max means broad keywords won’t be prioritized as exact match anymore.

To maintain prioritization, advertisers should add exact match keyword copies in AI Max campaigns. However, doing so will erase historical data for those keywords.

For advertisers who prefer the standard exact match prioritization, no action is needed.
