On October 5, 2026, Google Ads will update its Other restricted businesses: Government documents and services policy to allow authorized providers to run ads promoting the direct acquisition of government documents and services. To qualify, providers must meet specific criteria, including having their domain linked from an official government website.

Key criteria include:
- Domain Authorization: Must be explicitly referenced as authorized by the relevant government entity.
- Service Specificity: The domain can only promote the specific documents or services aligned with the government’s authorization.
- Geographic Targeting: Ads must target the geographic areas matching the authorization, except for inherently transnational documents.
This update is part of Google’s effort to ensure compliance with advertising policies, including the Misleading representation policy.
