Google Ads will implement an updated Gambling and Games policy for Alberta, Canada effective May 4, 2026. The change permits online gambling advertisements from entities holding authorization from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC).

The policy allows advertising for the following gambling offerings:
- Lotteries:Â Must be operated by government-run entities or licensed by Canadian federal authorities
- Sports betting, online casinos, and fantasy sports:Â Operators must be licensed by the relevant province and target only that province
During the province’s regulatory transition period, advertisers may run brand awareness campaigns only. All campaigns must be strictly geo-targeted to Alberta. Advertisers seeking to establish a market presence prior to the start of formal wagering must provide valid proof of an AGLC license application to qualify for certification.
