Data Transmission Control Rolls Out In Google Ads

A Google Ads interface titled "Data Transmission Control" shows options to manage data transmission, including settings for advertising and analytics data, with a "NEW" label highlighted and the name Thomas Eccel displayed.

Google Ads is now showing a new setting called Data Transmission Controls, layered on top of Advanced Consent Mode. This feature allows advertisers to restrict the flow of advertising, behavioral analytics, and diagnostic data at the tag level when consent is denied.

For ad_storage without consent, advertisers can:

  • Allow limited data (identifiers redacted, conversion modeling continues)
  • Or block all advertising data until consent is granted

Importantly, advertisers can allow behavioral analytics while restricting advertising data, or block both. This option is only available through the Google Ads UI, and applies only to Google tags. Consent Mode must already be active for this setting to appear.

You can find it by navigating to Data Manager, selecting Google Tag (Manage), and then choosing Manage data transmission.
