Google Ads has added a new “Political content” setting to the campaign creation flow. This setting was previously only available in campaign settings after setup. Now it appears upfront, making it easier for advertisers to correctly flag political ads from the start.

The update aligns with broader changes in political ad regulation. Google recently announced it will stop serving political ads in the European Union ahead of the Transparency and Targeting of Political Advertising (TTPA) regulation, which takes effect in October 2025.

Jerome Fleck also noticed that the “EU political ads” option is now available in the Google Ads Editor, expanding its accessibility across platforms.
