After Google’s rollout of the “EU Political Ads” setting, Microsoft Advertising is now introducing its own Political Advertising Declaration.

This update ties into the upcoming EU Regulation on transparency and targeting of political advertising, which takes effect on October 10, 2025.

Starting in September, advertisers on Microsoft will be required to:

  • Declare upfront whether a campaign contains political advertising before campaign creation.
  • Remove political ads if declared.

Non-compliance = account suspension or removal.

This is a stricter approach than before and underscores how seriously platforms are aligning with EU transparency rules.
