Google has launched automatic shipping updates in Merchant Center Next, aiming to improve the accuracy of delivery information shown to shoppers.

Merchants can link partner accounts to share order tracking history or enable Google’s StoreBot crawler to collect shipping speed data from their website.

It uses historical tracking data and crawled website speeds to automatically update shipping time estimates.

All accounts are opted out by default and must manually enable the setting under Products > Automatic Improvements. This feature adds to the existing automatic updates for price, availability, and condition.

Benefits include more accurate shipping estimates, easier delivery time comparisons, and improved chances of conversion.

Automatic shipping updates are currently available only in the U.S., but international merchants may opt in.
