Google has released a new help page with more details on upgrading Video Action Campaigns to Demand Gen. It includes a dedicated section addressing common questions about the upgrade.

Starting April 2025, new VACs can’t be created. From July 2025, existing VACs will auto-upgrade to Demand Gen.

How to Upgrade?

  1. Manually shift budgets from VAC to Demand Gen.
  2. Use the Copy-Paste Tool to clone VACs into Demand Gen.
  3. Wait for Auto-Migration in Q1 2025, when Google converts VACs automatically.

  • Supports Max Conversions, Target CPA, and Max Clicks bidding strategies.
  • Demand Gen runs on YouTube, Discover, Gmail, and Display instead of just YouTube.
  • Allows image, video, and carousel ads instead of video-only.
  • Introduces Lookalike Segments and Optimized Targeting for better audience reach.
