Google is updating its cryptocurrency-related advertising policy starting January 2025. Here are the key changes:

  • Cryptocurrency Exchanges and Software Wallets: Ads for cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets targeting the UK will be allowed only if the advertiser is certified by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and complies with local legal requirements.
  • Hardware Wallets: Ads for hardware wallets that store private keys for cryptocurrencies or NFTs are allowed, but only if they don’t offer trading services. Advertisers must also be certified by Google.
  • Global Impact: These rules will apply worldwide to all advertisers of cryptocurrency-related products.

Google emphasizes that local laws must be followed and advertisers must meet certification requirements.
