Google has released version 21 of the Google Ads API, introducing several new features aimed at improving campaign transparency and AI-powered performance. To access these updates, advertisers need to upgrade their client libraries and code.

Key additions include a new contains_eu_political_advertising field for EU political ad compliance. If this field is set to true, the campaign will no longer serve in the EU starting September 23, 2025. There’s also a new campaign_search_term_view designed to provide search term insights for Performance Max campaigns.
Support for AI Max for Search campaigns is now available through ai_max_setting.enable_ai_max, offering machine learning–driven keyword expansion and creative generation. A new view also allows performance analysis of AI Max search term and ad combinations.
Brand guidelines now apply automatically to new campaigns, and advertisers can include QR codes, barcodes, and terms of service in Promotion Assets.
