Google Denies Report on Ads Coming to Gemini App

A digital interface displays the Gemini App logo above a dark screen that greets “Hello, Lisa” and shows AI-generated suggestions; a smartphone and desktop view are both visible with a colorful gradient glow.

Google is pushing back on reports that ads are coming to its Gemini AI chatbot in 2026.

According to Adweek, Google recently told major advertisers to expect ad placements inside the Gemini app, separate from existing ads in AI Mode and AI Overviews, starting in 2026.

A digital graphic shows the Gemini App logo and interface screens with text "Hello, Lisa. How can I help you today?" and options for generating images, writing HTML/CSS, and creating a CSS color palette.

However, Google’s VP of Global Ads, Dan Taylor, directly refuted the story, writing on X that “there are no ads in the Gemini app and there are no current plans to change that.”

A tweet by Dan Taylor clarifies that claims about Google Ads in the Gemini App are inaccurate, saying Google denies these rumors and confirms there are no ads or plans to introduce them.

For now, Gemini remains ad-free, but the debate around AI monetization is heating up. Any future shift could significantly impact ad strategies and spend allocation.
