Shopify’s Checkout Update Could Disrupt Google Measurement

Google has announced an update on Shopify phasing out legacy tagging methods like checkout.liquid, additional scripts as part of its new checkout experience.

If you’re using Google tags via these methods, or via a custom pixel, you must migrate to Shopify’s official Google & YouTube app to avoid losing conversion tracking.

🛠️ What you need to do:

  • Migrate tags before updating the Thank You & Order Status pages
  • Deadlines:
    • Shopify Plus: Aug 28, 2025
    • Non-Plus: Aug 26, 2026

⚠️ If not migrated in time, you risk complete data loss for key post-purchase events, impacting optimization, bidding, and campaign performance.
