Google began testing similar products in April 2023. A “Show similar” button now in Shopping ads revealed a carousel of similar products beneath existing ads when clicked. Clicking again changed the button to “Hide similar” and closed the section.
Later, in October 2023, Similar styles shopping ads were spotted for apparel-related queries resulting in two shopping sections being visible simultaneously.
Now, this way of showing ads is extending to other industries. This new ad section named “Similar products” appears directly beneath the standard shopping ad section.
