Google has introduced Local customer optimization as a feature within Performance Max campaigns for store goals. This feature allows advertisers to prioritize reaching potential customers who are nearby and ready to take immediate actions, such as visiting or contacting the business.

Local customer optimization helps businesses increase their local visibility by targeting users who are actively searching for services in a specific area. Key benefits include:
- Capture Ready-to-Act Customers: Reach users who plan routes or search for services near their business with immediate intent.
- Targeted Local Reach: Allocate campaign budgets to locally tailored ads across platforms such as Google Maps, Waze, and on Google Search.
To enable this feature, advertisers can create a new Performance Max for store goals campaign, or toggle it on in existing campaigns. Notably, this feature is not compatible with online campaign goals or campaigns that include products from the Merchant Center.
