Google has updated its Merchant listing structured data to align better with Google Merchant Center capabilities. Two significant additions include:

  • Sale Duration Support: Google now specifies how to use ‘validFrom’, ‘validThrough’, and ‘priceValidUntil’ to denote active sale prices, tied to the salepriceeffective_date attribute in Merchant Center.
  • Product Category Support: Merchants can now utilize the ‘Product.category’ property to include both merchant-defined and Google-defined category information, enhancing their product visibility.

These changes may improve how products are displayed in Search and Shopping results.
