Google to Require Passkeys in Ads for Certain Actions

A Google email to advertisers highlights new security features, urges setting up a passkey for account safety, and includes a blue “Create Passkey now” button and a green “NEW” label at the top right.

Google will require passkeys for certain sensitive actions in Google Ads starting July 15th. This initiative aims to enhance account security and creates a safer advertising ecosystem.

Passkeys, which can be set up easily, provide a secure alternative to traditional passwords. To create a passkey, advertisers should visit the designated link, enter their account password, and follow the prompts. This update was anticipated as Google rolled out Passkey security in March 2026.

Learn more about passkeys in the official help page published in February.
