UCP Integration Hub Spotted Live in the US

Google Merchant Center Next page for UCP integration, featuring an promotional banner about Universal Commerce Protocol and a guide to implementation, testing, and validation steps.

The UCP integration hub is now live in Google Merchant Center for US merchants. It sits under Settings > UCP integration and opens with “Start selling across AI surfaces by implementing Universal Commerce Protocol.”

Until now, the hub was only described in a Merchant Center help page spotted earlier this month, which said it would roll out gradually in the US first, with Australia and Canada following next year.

This is the first look at it inside the actual Merchant Center interface.

The page splits the setup into three steps: an implementation guide for enabling UCP capabilities on AI Mode, Gemini, and Search (setup required), a sandbox to test your implementation and review responses from your server (recommended), and a production validation step you need to pass to go live. Merchants whose checkout and cart APIs require authentication are asked to contact Google to agree on supported methods.

UCP is what puts a checkout button on eligible product listings in AI Mode in Google Search and in Gemini, so shoppers can buy without leaving Google. Onboarding from Merchant Center also unlocks options like cart transfer to the merchant site and enhanced checkout flow testing.
