Microsoft has updated its advertising policy regarding Surveillance products and services. The revision broadens the previous ‘Surveillance Equipment’ policy to include explicit examples of prohibited and permitted items and services.
The renamed ‘Surveillance Products and Services‘ policy now prohibits ads or landing pages suggesting illegal use, such as stalking. This includes the use of keywords like ‘secret tracking app’ or ‘spy cam’. Hidden recording devices meant for unauthorized surveillance, keyloggers, or tools for unauthorized communication interception are also banned.

Permitted are promotions for legal surveillance purposes, like home, property, or business security systems, trackers for valuables, vehicles, luggage, or pets, and child- and family-safety products. Advertisers in these domains should review their ad content to comply.
