Google Ads Updates YouTube Campaign Objective for Clarity

In 2023, Google simplified video campaign setup by combining the Awareness and Consideration goals into a single Awareness & Consideration objective.

Building on that change, Google Ads is now renaming this objective to YouTube reach, views, and engagements. The updated name is intended to give advertisers a more transparent view of the outcomes they can drive with YouTube ads.

The new formulation emphasizes three key outcomes:

  • Reach: Expose ads to a broader and relevant audience, boosting visibility.
  • Views: Drive meaningful video views from users interested in the content.
  • Engagements: Promote interactions such as YouTube subscriptions and engagement.

This update is particularly suitable for brands with top or mid-funnel goals.

It’s currently rolling out, but the previous version is still visible in some accounts. Here’s how it looked:
