Hidden Media Settings Appear in Google Ads Location Manager

In Google Ads' Location Manager, the Hidden Media Settings page offers checkboxes to allow Google-owned photos and media in ad campaigns, along with a message highlighting the use of high-quality images.

Location Manager, located in the Shared library section of Google Ads, now includes new media permissions that are enabled by default and hidden deep within the interface.

Two settings are involved:

  • Automated Location Assets: Uses merchant photos from your Business Profile, similar to existing automated features.
  • New media consent: Allows Google to use its own rich media, such as photos and videos from Google Maps, in campaigns linked to your business locations.

Google states these assets may be used automatically to enhance campaign performance. However, because the settings are pre-enabled and not clearly surfaced, advertisers face limited visibility and control over which materials are being used.
