Google Tag Manager has rolled out support for custom event parameters in Google Ads tags, closing a key gap between GTM and manual gtag() setups.

It allows:

  • Add custom parameters (audience, conversion details, etc.)
  • Configure tracker settings (like User Data dispatch)
  • Apply via Event Settings variable for consistency

Previously, these customizations required manual code outside GTM. With this update, advanced tagging can now be managed entirely within the container interface.
