Concerns have arisen after a Google Ads representative made unauthorized changes to a client’s account without previous consent.

Andy Youngs and Thomas Eccel have reported that a person from Google’s third-party support team altered ad copy, adjusted headline pinning, and changed the bidding strategy.

Notably, these changes do not appear in the account change history due to being internal modifications.

These unauthorized alterations should be considered serious compliance violations.

This incident highlights the need for better oversight and accountability in account management practices.

UPDATE: Ginny Marvin confirmed that this behaviour is against Google’s processes for ensuring approvals are granted before making changes. Google is taking steps to address this issue.
