Proof of Address May Now Be Required for Google Ads Verification

Proof of Address May Now Be Required for Google Ads Verification

Google Ads has updated its advertiser verification requirements, potentially asking for a second document to verify an advertiser’s address. This change aims to further authenticate individual advertisers by matching the full name and address initially provided.

The document must be one of the following:

  • a second government-issued photo ID showing the address side
  • a utility or phone/internet bill dated within the last 60 days
  • a bank statement from the last 60 days

The ID rules now specify the use of an original photo taken with the device’s native camera app. Third-party app photos or screenshots may not be accepted.

Submissions need to be made through the Ads UI, and agencies cannot upload multiple advertisers’ documents in one file.

Currently, this requirement applies to South Sudan, but it may be expanded to other countries in the future.
