Google has launched the latest version of Google Ads Editor, version 2.9, which brings new features and improvements.

Mac users now require MacOS 12 or later to run the updated version.

New features include:

  • Support for MCC-owned labels: Labels from Google Ads manager accounts (MCC) can now be attached to campaigns, ad groups, keywords, and ads in child accounts but cannot be edited.
  • Allow shopping ads on excluded brands: Retail Performance Max campaigns can now serve shopping ads on brand-related search terms even if those brands are excluded.
  • Generate vertical videos for responsive video ads: A new setting allows automatic vertical video generation for responsive video ads in Video views campaigns.
  • Support for Masthead ads: You can now create and manage Masthead ads and their ad groups in Google Ads Editor.
  • Limited support for lift measurement: Campaigns can now be added or removed from existing lift measurements.
  • Video enhancements for Demand Gen ads: The AutoTrim feature lets advertisers opt in or out of generating shorter video versions.
  • VRC ad group conversion tool: Standard Video campaigns using VRC 1.0 can be converted to VRC 2.0, which includes inventory control and requires responsive ad groups.
  • Age exclusions in Performance Max: Negative age criteria can now be applied at the campaign level for Performance Max campaigns.
  • Enhanced CPC deprecation: Ads Editor will now show an error when Enhanced CPC is used with Maximize Clicks or Manual CPC for Search and Display campaigns.
  • Block content exclusions in Video and Demand Gen: Content exclusions are now only available for Search Standard and Display campaigns, no longer for Video or Demand Gen.
  • New customer acquisition in Shopping campaigns: Shopping campaigns now support the new customer acquisition goal, which was previously limited to Search and Performance Max.
  • Multi-tab export and import to Google Sheets: Data exported to Google Sheets will now be split into separate tabs by entity type for easier management.
  • Color highlighting in export to Sheets: Local edits can now be highlighted with different colors when exporting data to Google Sheets.
  • Inventory control in Demand Gen: A new “Channels” setting has been added to control inventory for Demand Gen ad groups.
  • “Fix misconfigured deep links” recommendation: Ads Editor now includes a recommendation with a direct link to the Deep Link Validator tool.
  • Pause ad image field: A new optional field lets advertisers pause ad images, primarily for “Pause ads” in Video reservation campaigns.
  • Ad preview for RSA and asset groups: A new Ad Preview link lets you see how responsive search ads and asset groups will appear before going live.

Meanwhile, VRC 1.0 campaigns are being phased out in favor of VRC 2.0 with inventory controls.
