Google Allows 0% Alcohol Ads in India, Indonesia and Egypt

Google’s updated alcohol advertising policy now permits 0% alcohol beverages to be advertised in India, Indonesia, and Egypt, regions where alcohol ads were previously banned. Advertisers must complete certification requirements to advertise these products.

The help page has been completely restructured, introducing sections that cover requirements for alcohol advertising and a new certification application for 0% alcohol beverages. Low ABV drinks (below 0.5%) and alcohol alternatives can now be promoted, provided all local laws and industry standards are followed.

However, the policy expands on prohibitions, including misleading claims regarding a drink’s nature or strength and presenting alcohol as a means to remove social or sexual inhibitions. Violations could lead to immediate suspension of advertising privileges.
